Besant Hall Records is proud to unveil Memory Pool, a stunning composition by award-winning Scottish composer Jim Sutherland. The single serves as a preview of Sutherland’s highly anticipated album, When Fish Begin to Crawl. Recorded with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and conducted by Terry Davies, this evocative piece offers a compelling listening experience through its complex textures and bold melodic lines.
When Fish Begin to Crawl will be performed live in tandem with the film triptych of the same name in Inverness on Tuesday 28 January and in Glasgow on Sunday 2 February 2025.

Jim Sutherland is an award-winning Scottish composer, musician and producer. His career ranges across many musical genres, as well as several major commissions for film, TV and theatre. He has collaborated with some of the finest musicians in their field, worldwide. Rooted in the Scottish tradition, his reach extends to encompass electronic, orchestral, rock and pop. His often-unorthodox production techniques are legendary.
