Andrea Boccadoro's score for the French feature ‘Avant que les flammes ne s’éteignent’, directed by Mehdi Fikri, will be released on the 17th November 2023, across all major streaming platforms on Air-Edel Records. The latest release from the Italian composer explores the dark and brooding themes of the film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and received its French release on 15th November 2023.
Following the death of her little brother during a police arrest, Malika, surrounded by her entire family, launches into a legal battle to ensure that the truth is revealed.
”The original score for ‘Avant que les flammes ne s’éteignent’ was born from the moving film script, written by Mehdi Fikri and inspired by real stories. When reading it, I was immediately drawn to the grief and the courage that drive the main character Malika through her journey, overcoming the loss of her brother Karim and finding the confidence to seek justice about his killing. The score incorporates elements of contemporary classical and post-rock music, whilst also resonating with the Arabic music that’s present on screen and in the soundtrack.” – Andrea Boccadoro
