Besant Hall Records Release ‘Moons of Jupiter’
Besant Hall Records, a sub-label of Air-Edel Records, have released ‘Moons of Jupiter‘ by composer Paul Grabowsky.
The impressive jazz projectboasts complex harmonic and rhythmic concepts in exciting experimental jazz and electronic performances from Scott Tinkler (trumpet), Erkki Veltheim (electric violin), Peter Knight (electronics), Philip Rex (bass) and Dave Beck (drums). The works, which were first performed live in May 2017, were nominated for “Jazz Work of the Year” at the 2017 Art Music Awards and have been described as “a monumental work by musicians of great stature” by AusJazz.
‘Ioʻrolls out over a turbulent rock groove that constantly shifts rhythmic gears, featuring virtuosic flights from violinist Veltheim and trumpeter Tinkler. ‘Pasiphae’is a darkly lyrical ballad, with standout solos from Tinkler and Grabowsky. ‘Callisto’takes us from a depiction of weightless space through an increasingly intense melodic and harmonic journey that draws on the sextet’s impressive ensemble skills.
The album is available from today to download and stream across all digital platforms, including iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.
