“Since Control is inspired by the literary genre “new weird”, and deals with supernatural themes, I’ve mainly been exploring sounds that appear unusual in nature but remains organic and somewhat real. Rather than using synthesis I’ve recorded and processed instruments such as the Daxophone, home-build string and spring instruments, a bowed plate reverb etc. Having sounds appear both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time creates an unsettling atmosphere. The score is highly interactive, and is organised by the game second by second, corresponding to the players behaviour.” – Martin Stig Andersen
