Spitfire Audio: Piano Journal
As part of their Piano Journal, Spitfire Audio came to record on our Steinway B Grand Piano with Nick Taylor in Studio 1 and Piano Day is just around the corner (29th March – the 88th day of the year). Air-Edel’s Christian Henson went on two quests: one to find out how they make pianos at the Schimmel factory; the other to find the perfect virtual piano for drama by looking at all of Spitfire’s pianos.
The piece they recorded was developed from an idea that Homay had conceived a while ago, with her performing on the grand piano and Oliver laying down some live loops using the Spitfire sounds combined with a stereo delay. Their track ‘As Before’ climaxes with a four handed ending.
